What is a Desk Assessment?

A Desk Station (DSE) Assessment is a structured review of your workstation, posture, and daily habits.

As Osteopaths and workplace assessors, we look beyond just your chair and screen. We assess how your body interacts with your environment and identify the small changes that make a measurable difference.

Who is it for?

The aim of the assessment is to help reduce aches and pains, support improved posture, and create a more comfortable working position. By making targeted adjustments, the intention is to support better focus and productivity throughout your day.

You will be guided through practical, easy-to-follow changes that can be implemented straight away, along with a personalized report providing clear recommendations to support your longer-term health at work.

What we assess

We look at how your chair is set up and whether it is truly supporting your body throughout the day. We assess your screen height and positioning to ensure it is not contributing to strain through your neck and upper back.

We review your keyboard and mouse use, alongside how your desk is organised, including reach zones and overall layout. This helps identify small inefficiencies that often lead to unnecessary tension building over time.

Beyond the physical setup, we assess your posture and how you move during your working day, as well as your work patterns and break habits. This allows us to give practical, realistic advice that fits into how you actually work, not just how you are told you should.

What you will gain

The aim of the assessment is to help reduce aches and pains, support improved posture, and create a more comfortable working position. By making targeted adjustments, the intention is to support better focus and productivity throughout your day.

You will be guided through practical, easy-to-follow changes that can be implemented straight away, along with a personalized report providing clear recommendations to support your longer-term health at work.

What to expect

Your assessment is carried out as a virtual video consultation, allowing us to review your setup in your actual working environment. You can book at a time that suits you here.

The session is delivered by an Osteopath who is also a qualified desk assessor, bringing together clinical understanding of musculoskeletal health with practical workplace assessment experience.

At the start of the consultation, we will talk through your current workstation challenges, any symptoms you may be experiencing, and what you would like to gain from the assessment. This helps ensure the session is focused, relevant, and tailored to your needs.

We will then guide you through a review of your workstation via video, making practical adjustments in real time and advising on changes that can be implemented both immediately and longer term.

Following your assessment, you will receive a written report summarizing your setup, along with clear, personalized recommendations to support your ongoing comfort and health at work.
